Ours, at least, stays where you move it to until the next scheduled change (so if you turn it up to 72 during the day, it will still take it down to overnight levels when it's time to.) Also, you can put in a temp and press "Hold", and it stays there until you change it--so when we travel, we drop it down to 58 or whatever, and have it stay there until we get home.
