Colors of Autumn II

The moss and dark plum ivy on an old barn.

The dried blood of sumac 'candles'.

The pewter heads and tails of wild turkeys.

The mottled snowy breast of a watchful hawk.

The sea glass green of shoreline water.

The lavender pink stars of Autumn Joy Sedum

The umber seed head of a sunflower.

The paprika and lemon of blanket flowers.

Ah, 'tis then I love to wander,

Wander idly and alone;
Listening to the solemn music
Of sweet nature's undertone;
Wrapt in thoughts I cannot utter,
Dreams my tongue cannot express,
Dreams that match the Autumn's sadness
In their longing tenderness."
