Monarchs and Heron

After I had posted yesterday about the Monarchs, I realized I should have waited - there were so many more! Almost three dozen on the Autumn Joy sedum.

And on the sedum of the neighbor to the right.

As well as the neighbor to the left.

Close up on the alyssum.

Camouflaged on the black-eyed susans.

Even when you get closer.

There are still quite a few around this morning. But the heron was putting on a show down at the pond.

We see it on a regular basis, but seldom when it has just caught breakfast.

One of the butterflies was even present, though not paying much attention.

Going....

 .....going....

........all gone.

Sunrise sky this morning with three indistinct birds. It is a relatively clear, lovely September day. I still believe Iowa is the best place to be.
